The eighth Tallinn Fringe Festival will fill Tallinn’s cultural clubs and stages with over 180 short performances. The opening week will feature comedy, circus, music, cabaret, and pole dancing. The week culminates with a “pay-what-you-want” Irish street programme at Tallinn’s Town Hall Square.
From August 23 to 25, Tallinn’s Town Hall Square will host world-renowned artists from Ireland: the revolutionary circus collective Tumble Circus, the duo Bill and Fred with their physical improvisation performance of elderly women, and clown Shiva Grigs with the clown show “Pigeon Chaser.” More information about the event here.
A special treat awaits at the cosy Ratas & Kohv café in Kristiine. On stage will be Estonian choreographer and poet Sveta Grigorjeva, London-based filmmaker Marian Võsumets, and Latvian-based Nigerian comedian Lydia Oyeniyi. They will present satirical stories about Eastern Europe in a show Eastern Cocktail Hour.
Heldeke will host Late Night Cabaret with Kaisa Ling on Tuesday and Friday evenings. On Thursdays (in Estonian) and Saturdays (in English), Ann Vaida will introduce the most exciting comedians at the Late Night Stand-up Show. Underluminal show The Last King of Porn unfolds a story of a porn actor’s final film about a sex marathon with 100 women. UK artist Linda will premiere her new solo show, diving into the dark side of the world…with humor! Joshua Perkins’s solo show, Netflix and Dill, tells the quirky story of a Welsh English teacher who became a comedian in Latvia.
At the Ringlava, Estonia’s first Gongshow winner, Aleksander Eeri Laupmaa, will perform his third stand-up hour: LEAFMAN • STAR-BAG •THUGMAN.
Rataskaevu 6 Art will host a performance by Hong Kong stand-up comedian Joanna Sio with her show Bohemian Hongkie.
A-le-hopp! will bring the audience a whole lot of circus! Finnish award-winning circus artist Kai Kuutamo will showcase not only comedy but also the legendary human cannonball act and juggle eight balls. A unique assortment of circus artists will be featured in the Circus Cabaret.
At HUNGR, the night belongs to pole dancers. So You Think You Can Strip: Nordic Fairytales for Adults celebrates the roots of pole dance and encourages its sensual side through an alternative burlesque-style performance night.
The Kidrakuur stage will be taken over by artificial intelligence and evil robots in a performance that celebrates the launch of NM Barramundi’s third album.
